Dream n; “something hoped for”
By Philippa Kerr
‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on every kind of people: your sons will prophesy, also your daughters; your young men will see visions, your old men dream dreams.’ Acts 2 The Message.
Dreamers’ Day will be an opportunity to take time out as God’s church in Ipswich, to pray and ponder and to ‘dream aloud’ in good company and with a good lunch! The plan is that there will be as little planning as possible – just enough so that the day will be comfortable and ‘safe’, warm and welcoming, but with no fixed agendas or programme so that we may not flatten the ‘bubbles’ nor quench enthusiasm and creativity.
We’ll probably pray a bit, talk a bit, share a little, ponder awhile, chew things over and see what emerges. You may be bursting with something already or you may want to encourage someone else. It will be a safe place to explore and no-one will be put ‘on the spot’ – I promise!
Of course, the purpose of dreams visions and prophesies is to point to the Kingdom and Lordship of Jesus so ‘whoever calls out for help to me, God, will be saved’
In Ipswich we have a history of ‘Kingdom projects’ – dreams and visions which have reached fruition and are speaking through action to Ipswich people. The older (e.g. Inspire), the ‘been around awhile’ (e.g. Town Pastors), the new (e.g. Winter Night Shelter) and the ‘yet to be completed’ (e.g. Talitha Koum) are all communicating the love of our Father God, His command that all people should be valued and His desire that all may be saved.
Although these are big projects now, most didn’t start out that way and their initial ‘dreamers’ continue to be amazed at what God will do when we’re listening and feeling brave! Some of the most effective ‘dreams in action’ are small, personal and quiet – no excuses then for any of us!
At Heart for Ipswich we are very blessed to have a modest funding potential to ‘give feet’ to new vision so that all can benefit. Often in the past dreams have been seemingly unattainable through the lack of (often a very small amount of) money.
So …. Come and dream…we’re praying for divine inspiration and blessing.
It will be worth the sacrifice of a Saturday!
Details: Saturday March 24th, 10am-4pm , at St Andrew’s church, Britannia Road, Ipswich
