Parenting course in Ipswich - 2012

Last year we posted a story about the Parenting Course which had just been completed at Rushmere Christian Fellowship. The church is running another course starting in February 2012 and Marilyn Coates provides some background.

"Parenting is probably the hardest job you will ever be asked to do.  Whether you stack shelves in Tesco, or you are the World’s greatest brain surgeon, you will have received some training before you started work. Before we become parents we may have read a book about parenting or we may have watched other parents with their children.

More often than not we only have the example of our own parents to follow – good or bad! There is very little training that enables us to parent our children well.

At Rushmere Christian Fellowship we recognise our lack of training and think that it is important that we can draw on the skills of other parents. Our Parenting Course is for any parent. We all have skills that we have adapted to our style of parenting and to the needs of our children.

The course runs one night a week for 6 weeks and is for anyone with children aged between 2 years and 15 years. It is very informal and although the course leader will introduce some ideas, the main aim of the course is for you to learn from each other. Swap ideas with other parents and learn new things yourself.

Discover that you are not alone as you struggle to be the best parent you can.

The next course starts on Monday Feb 20th 2012. It will run for 6 weeks ending just before the School Easter Holidays. Each session will last 2 hours and is completely free."
